Selected cases of intelligent network | Building an intelligent and flexible network to meet the challenges of consumer product innovation
Jan.24.2025

In the modern consumer market, a certain consumer goods brand has quickly become a leader in the industry with its innovative design and global layout.

The company has gained great popularity among young consumers through its simple and fashionable design and cost-effective products, and has gradually expanded from the domestic market to the world. Its product lines cover daily necessities, household goods, health and beauty, cultural and sports gifts and other fields.

However, with the rapid expansion of global business, especially the increasing complexity of global supply chains and warehousing systems, enterprises are facing increasingly severe network management challenges and are in urgent need of more stable and intelligent network solutions to support the efficient operation of their global businesses.

Challenges and needs: From business expansion to digital upgrade

As a leading global brand of daily consumer goods, the company has dozens of warehousing and production bases around the world, and has an extensive distribution and sales network covering multiple markets including Asia, Europe and North America. As the business expands in different regions, the demand for interconnection between its warehousing network and cloud platform is increasing.

Previously, the company adopted a traditional network architecture and used MSTP+IPsec technology to ensure connectivity with the cloud platform. Although this met initial needs, as business grew, this network architecture gradually showed problems such as insufficient redundancy, low management efficiency, and high risk of failure.

In addition, the interconnection method of major warehouses relies on long-distance network transmission across provinces, which has high network costs and unstable network performance; the backup lines of the warehouses rely on the public Internet, which is easily affected by multi-node interference and cannot effectively guarantee the quality of the backup lines. If the core firewall fails, the entire network may be interrupted, directly affecting the business connection between the warehouse and the cloud platform.

Therefore, the brand urgently needs a more flexible and redundant network solution to ensure business continuity and stability.

Solution highlights: Intelligent elastic network with SD-WAN as the core

In response to the multi-level needs of customers, Fnetlink designed and implemented a multi-level SD-WAN architecture for it. Through the SD-WAN combined with MPLS VPN solution, the company's five core city nodes are efficiently connected to the Fnetlink backbone network, and the business is efficiently connected with the eight branch offices to meet the customized needs of different regions and business scenarios.

Hybrid architecture: Combining the advantages of MPLS and Internet links
Fnetlink did not completely abandon the customer's original MPLS network, but chose a hybrid architecture model. It continued to use MPLS dedicated lines in key production bases that required high stability, and achieved flexible access through Internet links in scenarios such as distribution centers that were cost-sensitive or had low requirements for network latency. This hybrid architecture can not only ensure high service reliability, but also reduce the overall cost of network deployment.

Dual cloud dedicated line redundancy design
Two cloud dedicated lines from different operators are used to connect to the customer's Alibaba Cloud Shenzhen availability zone. BGP interconnection is carried out with the Oplink backbone through dual PE nodes, and BFD technology is used to ensure rapid switching when the cloud dedicated line is interrupted, greatly improving the stability of the network.

Regional deployment and redundant backup
According to the geographical distribution of customers' warehousing networks, it is divided into five major regions: South China, Southwest China, Central China, East China and North and Northeast China. In each area, Oplink has deployed multiple CPE nodes as regional HUBs, equipped with multiple operator lines, and supports MSTP access to achieve dual-machine dual-network intelligent hot standby to ensure network redundancy.

Intelligent route selection and escape link
Through Oplink's intelligent SD-WAN technology, WAN lines can be visualized, and intelligent routing technology dynamically adjusts application directions based on line quality to ensure that services always run on the optimal line. In addition, Fnetlink has also configured 4G/5G escape links for each warehouse to ensure business continuity in the event of a sudden network failure.

QOS guarantee and application optimization
Through the QOS function of SD-WAN, customers' core applications are given priority to ensure their transmission quality on dedicated lines. At the same time, by identifying and counting application traffic, we provide bandwidth optimization suggestions to help customers reduce the cost of using dedicated lines.

Business results: network performance significantly improved and costs greatly optimized

Fnetlink's SD-WAN solution makes enterprise network architecture more scalable and can quickly adapt to the needs of business growth and global expansion. Traditional networks experience delays when new nodes are connected, but SD-WAN simplifies network management and optimizes resource allocation, allowing new warehouses and sales points to quickly connect to the global network and improve overall business flexibility.

Improved network performance and cost optimization: Through intelligent traffic scheduling and dynamic routing optimization, the company's bandwidth utilization rate increased by 40%, avoiding resource waste and significantly reducing operating costs. Efficient network management not only ensures the smooth operation of each business node, but also reduces maintenance and expansion costs.

Accelerated fault response: SD-WAN significantly shortens the response time to network faults by an average of 70%. The ability to respond quickly is crucial to the stability of production and logistics. It can reduce production interruptions caused by network problems and ensure the continuity of key businesses.

As the consumer goods market continues to grow younger, the company is actively embracing digital transformation. Fnetlink's SD-WAN solution not only helps it solve the complex management problems of its global network, but also lays a solid foundation for its future digital strategy. Through leading network technology, Fnetlink provides enterprises with more efficient global network support, ensuring their rapid response and flexible expansion in the global market.

In the future, Fnetlink will continue to help companies promote innovation and business expansion on a global scale, and jointly lead the intelligent transformation of global supply chain and network management to meet the new wave of digitalization in the consumer goods industry.
